Dances of Three Nations

The Chinese, Japanese, and Korean communities of our city, with generous financial support from the Port of Portland, NIKE, and the Portland Art Museum, are pleased to present a special performance titled “Dances of Three Nations” on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kridel Grand Ballroom of the Portland Art Museum located at 1219 S.W. Park Avenue, Portland, OR 97205.

Three talented performers repDances of 3 Nations Performersresenting China, Japan and Korea will perform traditional dances native to the respective countries. The lead dancers for the performance are Xuan Cheng (China), Diana Hinatsu (Japan), and Seung-Hee Ji (Korea).

The idea for the concert originated with officials from three Portland area offices: Jin Lan, President of the Oregon-China Sister State Relations Council; Kojiro Uchiyama, Consul General of Japan in Portland; and Greg Caldwell, Honorary Consul for the Republic of Korea in Portland. In a joint statement, they said, “We want to show that, despite the political differences in our world today, our respective communities in Portland serve as a model of cooperation and friendship. In this spirit, we are delighted to share an afternoon of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cultures with the citizens of Oregon.”
