“How to Navigate Local US Labor & Employment Law for a Successful Hiring Experience”

John Kodachi is the principal attorney of Kodachi Law. Over the past 25 years, he has represented both large manufacturers and small restaurants on a wide-range of business, employment, and immigration matters. In the area of employment law, John has represented clients in both state and federal courts as well as state agency administrative proceedings.
John earned his JD from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1992 and received his BA from Oberlin College in 1988.
John serves on the board of several community non-profits organizations. He is the current Chair of the Japan America Society of Oregon and a board member of the Portland Japanese Gardens. He also served as president of the Portland Japanese American Citizens League and Lewis & Clark Law School Alumni Association.

Tasha Yorozu is an experienced legal counselor and corporate transactions attorney with hands-on experience in cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing, business development, and business negotiations and strategizing. Native in the English and Japanese languages and having lived in both countries, she is able to build relationships, navigate, and negotiate in the respective languages and cultures seamlessly.  Ms. Yorozu serves on the Board of Directors for Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California, US-Japan Council, and San Francisco-Osaka Sister City Association.

We’re excited to announce that JETRO will welcome legal experts John Kodachi and Tasha Yorozu who are most knowledgeable in labor and employment law for the seminar as part of our Platform program*. They’re going to talk about the situation and trends of what will happen in Portland, followed by the current situation in San Francisco, such as increasing of the minimum wage or tips included in the bill total.

We also will have networking time after the seminar. Beverages and appetizers will be provided during the networking. We hope you can join us.

*JETRO’s Platform program is available to Japanese small and medium sized companies free of charge. JETRO coordinators facilitate counseling by email or in-person interview, and they also operate a matching service of candidates for partnership.
