Women’s Leadership Council forms, announces event

JASO has recently announced the formation of a Women’s Leadership Council. The goals of the Council include advancing women’s leadership, inspiring and empowering women, and building a like-minded network community of support among women and supporters of women.

The Council holds its inaugural event on January 24th 2018, hosting a luncheon and fireside conversation with the two highest profile female Japanese-American business leaders in the Pacific Northwest, at the Hilton downtown Portland.

Phyllis Campbell is Chairman, Pacific Northwest of JPMorgan Chase and Co. Phyllis has served as President/CEO of The Seattle Foundation and US Bank of Washington, and on boards including Alaska Air, Nordstrom, the US-Japan Council, and Women Corporate Directors. She was recognized as First Citizen of Seattle/King County in 2016.

Denise Moriguchi is President and CEO of Uwajimaya Inc., a family-owned Asian specialty grocery retailer and wholesaler serving the Pacific Northwest since 1928. Previously she worked as a strategic consultant, and as a brand manager on the East Coast. Denise holds an MBA from MIT.

The event includes a 3-course lunch with a choice of rosemary garlic chicken or stuffed eggplant entree.
