Supporting Japanese flood victims

by Lynn Moyers on July 16, 2018

Members of the Japan-America Society of Oregon extend our sincere condolences and support to the people of Japan over the loss of life and destruction caused by recent floods. In the face of such a tragic disaster, a number of safe ways to donate, through reputable, established agencies, are already being set up to help provide immediate and long-term assistance to those affected by the floods.

Please consider giving generously.

Houston

As you may remember, last year the City of Houston suffered tremendously from flooding. The City of Houston through the Japan America Society of Houston has already set up a “Houston Stands With Japan” web site where you can donate.

US-Japan Council and Japanese-American Citizens League (JACL)

These two well-established bodies have started the Japan Flood Friendship Fund.

KEEN Footwear

Portland company and JASO member KEEN Footwear have set up a West Japan Flood Disaster Recovery fund. You have to navigate through the Japanese site – but the good news is – KEEN matches your donation.
