by Lynn Moyers on December 18, 2019

Do you have a love of Japanese culture? Do you enjoy teaching children aged 6-12? Can you organize volunteers? Can you take 4 or so week-long trips away from home, plus lots of local trips, to visit schools across Oregon and Southwest Washington?

Japan on the Road is a highly successful program that visits elementary schools all over our region in teams of three or four, to deliver a fun, 2½-hour introduction to Japanese culture to young students.

We are looking for a part-time staff person to work 700-800 hours per year between September and early June. The selected candidate will quickly move from assisting to managing the program as our current director transitions into retirement.

School visits run October thru May, with significant time spent planning and teaching. Hours range from 10-25 per week, depending on the time of year. Applicant should be able to drive, be detail-oriented, enjoy complex scheduling challenges and working with volunteers. Teaching education and/or experience a plus. Flexibility with actual work hours possible. No work over the school summer break.

Position open until filled. Candidate review is ongoing. If interested, send cover letter and resumé to
