Shishigashira Project

JASO has the honor of supporting the growth of and exposure to traditional Japanese arts in our community by supporting local artist Eien Hunter-Ishikawa and his shishigashira project.

Eien is a renowned musician and educator, born in Japan, and with a deep passion and long history of study in traditional music and the arts. You can read more about Eien HERE.

JASO is helping Eien by acting as the fiscal sponsor of his shishigashira project, the making of a lion’s head and full costume, plus accessories, enabling Eien and other local community musicians to create a shishimai group, and start performances locally, regionally, and beyond! Eien’s goal is to raise $15,000 to pay all direct costs associated with the creation of the lion’s head and other materials and accessories. By donating here, up to 100% of your donation is tax-deductible. Check with your tax professional for details.
