Join us in Portland for a rare cultural event with Tango Tanimura, a 20th-generation chasen master (the bamboo whisk used in Japanese tea ceremony). For over 500 years, this craft has been passed down within a single family in Takayama, Nara.
Only about 16 chasen masters remain in Japan today.
In this special demonstration, you will witness this remarkable craft performed by one of the few masters preserving the tradition. No experience needed – open to all levels. Enjoy matcha and experience Japanese culture up close.
