Applications Open, Japanese American Leadership Delegation Program

Applications are now open for the 2026 Japanese American Leadership Delegation (JALD) invitation program to Japan. The JALD program provides the opportunity for a select group of Japanese American leaders from across the United States to travel to Japan to engage with Japanese leaders.

Applications must be submitted via email to your local consular office by Sunday, August 31, 2025. Applicants residing in Oregon or Southern Idaho should submit applications to the Consular Office of Japan in Portland.

The itinerary for the 2026 delegation will include travel to Tokyo and Kanagawa. Transportation, hotel and meals will be provided. Individuals selected must be able to travel to Japan from March 6 (Fri) to March 14 (Sat), 2026, and attend a mandatory orientation in Los Angeles from January 30 (Fri) to January 31 (Sat), 2026.
