Donate NOW for the Noto peninsula recovery

by Graham Morris on January 29, 2024

If you want to donate to support victims and help recovery efforts in the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa-ken, JASO has now opened a dedicated site to receive and forward 100% of your donation. JASO had success in 2018 in the aftermath of the southern Hokkaido earthquake in working with Open Japan – a local Japanese non-profit acting quickly on the ground in Japan to support victims of the earthquake, and recovery efforts. JASO first learned about Open Japan through our long-time supporter, KEEN Footwear – who also partner with Open Japan in this work.

Click this button NOW and selectNotohanto Earthquake Recovery Fundin the Purpose of Donation drop-down menu:

Below are documents collating information we gathered in the immediate aftermath from Ishikawa, and also specifically from our friends in our Sister State, Toyama-ken. Included in these documents are instructions on how to donate directly to Japanese organizations. However, because the transactions must take place in Japanese yen, it may be simpler for you to donate to JASO – and we will forward all gifts as a lump sum transaction.

Additionally, be on the lookout for more fundraising through our work, and the work of others in our community. JASO members generously kick-started the fund with $1,200 at our shinnenkai, and are looking to build that number. Please be generous, give directly.

PS – yes – our friends at KEEN and Columbia Sportswear – both in Japan – are already giving to help aid recovery services. Thank you to them both!
